The W80 is an aseptic single-seat valve engineered for ultra-clean processing environments. Its design prevents product contamination by isolating the product zone and incorporating an aseptic flush barrier, making it ideal for sterile or high-purity applications.

Key Features of W80 Series Valves
-
A great solution for aseptic applications, this valve series utilizes a stem flush adapter to provide a liquid or steam barrier around the valve stem. The W80 adapter has an outer perimeter seal to the valve body with an o-ring that is located forward to the product zone to minimize crevices. The product stem passes through the adapter and is sealed in the upper part and the lower part of the adapter with o-rings. The W80A adapter provides the additional functionality to run a sterile flush on the body to adapter o-ring seal. While the W80 adapter only flushes the stem seal, the W80A adapter provides a fully aseptic sealing solution. The flush adapter is a direct replacement for the standard adapter piece, maintaining the same dimensions as the W60 Series and providing the same complete, flexible offering.

Theory of Operation: Single Seat Valves
Single seat valves from SPX Flow (Waukesha Cherry-Burrell) operate by using a pneumatic (or manual) actuator to move a valve stem and plug on and off a single seat, creating a tight shutoff when closed and a full-bore flow path when open for efficient product transfer and CIP circulation.
In shut-off/divert/tank outlet service (W60), the valve simply opens or closes to stop flow or direct it through the desired line.
For throttling/regulating service (W68/W88), a tapered stem/seat geometry and typically a positioner allow controlled, repeatable modulation of flow, pressure, or level.
For aseptic applications (W80), a stem flush adapter adds a liquid or steam barrier around the stem to help protect the product zone while minimizing crevices near the seal area.
For over-pressure protection (WR60/WR80), the valve functions as a relief device that “cracks” open at an adjustable set pressure to protect pumps and piping, and can be fully opened for CIP without over-pressurizing the system.

Frequently Asked Questions
An aseptic flush valve is used when the process requires absolute separation between the product and atmosphere, ensuring no microbial ingress. It is essential in applications such as aseptic filling, extended shelf-life (ESL) products, pharmaceutical media, or any process requiring sterile boundaries and high hygienic assurance.
